St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - Tampa Bay Ray's closer Troy Percival decided Monday not to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his injured right knee.
Rather, the 39-year-old elected rehabilitation and anti-inflammatory medication.
Percival went on the 15-day disabled list on Friday, one day after damaging cartilage in the knee in the ninth inning of Thursday's 7-6 win over the Oakland Athletics.
He is 2-0 with 27 saves in 30 opportunities and a 3.69 earned run average in 41 games for the AL East-leading Rays.
The right-hander ranks seventh on the all-time saves list with 351.
